The Gracious Gift of the Law

The Greeks had only one word for the law and it was negative and punitive, but for the Jews, the Torah was always perceived as God’s gracious gift.

And a gift it most certainly was.  The law was the gift of Divine corrective lenses for our sin damaged moral vision.  Previously benighted and utterly lost, we now see because the law reveals, clarifies…illuminates.  As we gaze into its depths, we are awakened as to how to glorify God and treat our fellow man, and as we measure our lives, thoughts, and the deep motivations of our hearts against its perfection, we see our need for a Savior.

“Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.”

Galatians 3:24 (NKJV)

  1. Amen! We are so desperate for a Savior. We cannot do it on our own. May God use you to draw others closer to Him!
