Sure Hope

My Scripture readings this morning centered around the hope of Christ’s return.

1 Thessalonians 13-18 begins with “But we do not want you to be uniformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others who have no hope.”

The verses that follow beautifully depict the moment when Christ returns and restores His children to life.

No more death. No more separation. No more grieving. No more heart-wrenching goodbyes.

Nothing but sweet reunions.

The passage ends with the command “Therefore comfort one another with these words.”

How sweet of the Father to bend toward His children as we grieve the bitter curse of death. Our God cares when our hearts are broken. His compassion is tender, lavish…faithful.

It is on this rock, firm and secure, that we set our hope when all seems dark.

Come quickly, Lord Jesus. Amen.

  1. Through it all, His people will succeed. For salvation to eternal joy belongs to God and to the Lamb. If it depends on us we are bound to failure. Great is the strength of God to save such as I.
